Fat Loss, Weight Loss - whats best?

This product is all about fat loss not weight loss…this is because this product targets and burns fat cells in the human body and does not deplete your healthy lean body tissue.

It’s Important to Lose Fat, Not Just Weight

As adults mature, their bodies tend to hold onto excess body fat. This is because the natural aging process slows down the resting metabolic rate.

When your metabolism slows down, you burn fewer calories. By maintaining lean muscle, you can maintain body strength and keep your metabolism high, which in turn burns more calories.

The Difference Is Advanced Peptide Technology

This product is a specially formulated whey protein blend that includes an advanced protein peptide technology. The peptides target and burn fat cells by converting them into energy. Through a patented process the peptides are extracted and then concentrated to ensure the optimal level of fat loss.

Clinical Study

Gael B
Australian TV Actress
Shed 36cms in 13 weeks

One of the Clinical Studys conducted showed -

Two groups participated in this study. Both reduced their daily intake by 500 calories (2093 kJ); one group added this peptide powder every day. Although both groups lost about the same amount of weight, participants who used this product powder lost more than twice as much fat as those who only dieted.

In the reduced-calorie diet, half the weight lost was fat and half was muscle. By adding this product, more than three quarters of the weight lost was fat! On average, participants taking this product lost 6.1% of their body fat.

The double-blind placebo-control trial results show the fat loss to lean muscle loss ratio is almost 4 to 1. Non-users only 1 to 1.

Participants not only lost centimetres but also had more energy and better appetite control, a definite plus when you’re watching what you eat.

Important Information

"This revolutionary natural product has absolutely no side effects and enables you to lose almost four times more fat than muscle."

"NEW patented technology has been proven in clinical studies, including double-blind placebo-control trials."

"This product will change the way you think about fat loss, and give you real measurable results."

Interested in real fat-loss?

You might think you have heard it all before and you have probably been bitterly disappointed. Here’s your chance to find out about an incredible new product just released in Australia.

This product has already helped thousands of people in America lose weight. Now it’s our turn…

A world leader in the Research and Development of natural health supplementation, with over $2.5 billion in sales behind them, has just launched this product here in Australia.

It is brand new technology in targeted fat-loss. Brand new technology meaning it is different to anything else available – different to anything else you might have already tried.

Great Results From The U.S.

The results in the US have been phenomenal and now Australians will be able to achieve the same incredible fat-loss results from this 100% natural product.

Turn off the Fat Switch

Turn the Fat Switch Off and Win the Battle of the Bulge

Forget the weight ... throw away the scales and get out the tape measure... it's about losing those centimetres... not just the weight!

This could just be the weight management discovery that tips the scales in your favour.

It's about dropping a dress size, tightening your belt another notch or fitting in to those jeans you bought at the sale last year.

As we age, our bodies tend to hold on to excess fat - especially around the waist and hips. This is because the natural aging process slows down the resting metabolic rate. For healthy weight management we need to support normal metabolism.

At any one time 42% of Australian women and 17% of Australian men are on a diet.

Most of them are destined to fail in their efforts to create that slimmer, trimmer figure. Health experts estimate that as few as 2% of dieters manage to maintain lasting weight loss results.

Part of the problem is that losing body weight usually means sacrificing important lean muscle mass which is required to maintain normal metabolism, which in turn allows you to burn more kilojoules.

Help is now at hand.

Scientists at Mannatech have discovered that the missing link in the weight management puzzle may well be found in a familiar substance that we have know about since childhood .... namely the whey found in Little Miss Muffet's dinner bowl. The secret lies in specific parts of whey protein, called peptides.

Using a patented technology, the peptides from the whey protein are concentrated to ensure an optimal level. They are then combined with calcium-rich minerals from whey to form an innovative, natural product known as OsoLean™ powder.

Why is OsoLean™ powder so different?

It's a world first in fat loss technology.

The Osolean™ exclusive all-natural whey protein blend has shown in clinical trials to target fat loss without reducing muscle.

OsoLean™ will improve your lean mass to fat ratio so that you will see the centimetres disappearing from your waistline, from your hips and from your thighs in no time at all.

  • Converts protein into lean muscle mass
  • Increases metabolism to burn fat
  • Naturally suppresses your appetite so you eat less
  • Regulates hormones to lose stored fat

OsoLean™ is the perfect addition to your 'weight control' plan. It's all natural and mixes with the foods and beverages that you already enjoy.

Keep eating low glycaemic foods, eat a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables, drink at least 8 glasses of purified water daily and remember to keep up some physical activity and you'll see the fat falling away.

With its advanced and patented protein peptide technology OsoLean™ is the perfect all natural supplement to support your weight control program. It is not a quick-fix for the fat epidemic, but rather one part of a healthy weight-management program.

The results are in!

Here's what is being said by those who have already tried the product:

"At last a product that really works! After 10 days using the OsoLean™ Plan, my thighs had noticeably reduced and after 3 months my overall body measurements have dropped considerably! I am not hungry, have increased energy ..."

"I have achieved great results without changing anything in my daily routine...."

"After 3 months I am thrilled to have lost a total of 9cm around my waist and dropped a dress size...."

180 Day Money Back Guarantee
Try OsoLean™ for 180 Days. If after following the OsoLean™ Plan for up to 180 days you are not satisfied with results, receive 100% of your money back!

To sum up:

OsoLean™ Powder:

  • Advanced protein peptide technology
  • All-natural with no synthetic additives
  • No sweeteners
  • Improves the lean mass to fat ratio
  • Provides essential minerals and nutrients
  • Calcium - 56% daily value

My last two weeks

My last two weeks have been a struggle, I must admit. I am tempted sooo much by sweet things, I'm craving them all the time!! I have tried to get back on track, have started the Wii Fit again and we are paving the rest of the driveway. My poor fingertips (from lifting pavers, no prints left, lol)....My measurements haven't altered, so thats one good thing, at least they didn't go up!! Although I am feeling a little bloated around the stomach. Same 'ol problem, I don't drink enough water, so have bought myself a water bottle and aim to carry it wherever I go. I have started taking the product again, I feel it will stop me craving the sweets. As it was school holidays, we went to the movies twice, so of course you need munchies too nibble on, so I did treat myself to a small bag of lollies. My aim is to shed some more weight this week, so far I have shed 40cm from my body. So that is a great feeling and still have 7 months to reach my goal, so definitely achievable. Until next week...

Another week down

Well I have had a better week, shed 1/2 kilo from putting it on last week. I am still feeling tired in the mornings and therefore can't drag myself out of bed to do the Wii Fit. And it also didn't help my son took the batteries...no excuse though. So have new batteries and plan to get started tomorrow..Haven't eaten too many naughties...tried to drink more water and eat my vegies. I have actually decided to have a break form the product...give my body a break and then start up again in a couple of weeks. Still going to watch what I eat and exercise...see how I go??

Motivation is the key

Well after last week letting loose on the diet, I was determined to 'behave' this week. So I didn't eat as many sweet things, I did have some, my portion was just smaller. Had my smoothie for breakfast, sandwich for lunch and ate more vegies for dinner, snacked on nuts, fruit and the occasional naughty, lol. Unfortunately my weight went up today and measurements are the same. So I think I need to drink more water each day and get rid of those damn chocolate berries!! So that is my aim, to drink 1 1/2 litres to 2 litres of water each day and do more exercise.

One positive, I dropped an order off to a lady on Saturday, who I have not seen since January. Her comment as she opened the door was " Gee Jo, how much weight are you going to lose??" Of course my comment was a lot more yet!! So it is always nice when someone notices, even though I feel the same, it is workingand people are noticing!! So that helps keep my motivation going, I will be a size 14-16 by Christmas!! So never give up, tomorrow is a new day!!

Falling WAAAAAY off track

The last few days have been a bit of a tussle for me and I have fallen way off the eating plan I have. I am not looking forward to Tuesday and the measure up as I know there is very little chance of seeing lower numbers and am preparing myself for it to even go up.

A horse drawn Bromo Seltzer wagon.Image via Wikipedia

I understand that about now is the time that the universe - your God, your will is tested with your new choices with food and your eating plan.. but I have fallen off the proverbial wagon... and its hard to scrabble back on board.

Raw Food Journey is the blog I have committed to in posting every day, everything that passes my lips. Its been a great tool as I feel I have a responsibility to remain truthful and fess up with everything - even when its been embarrassing and really naughty. Its been a great strength for me to draw on as I don't want the pain of having to write bad things down.

I had hoped that this site would also be a place where the others within the body shaping group , could share their thoughts, recipes, strategies, celebrate their journey, and draw on the feedback and support of others during this time.

I certainly know that when I reach my goal and people will want to know how I did it, what was going through my head and if I slipped up at all - that I can point them to my site and say - its all there - warts and all. Nothing is as disheartening to see someone reshape their body and then hear that it had been really easy for them, that 'all they did was......" and then feel that there is no way that you could ever do what they had done.. so you just give up.. you never try it and you remain feeling like crap. I know - I have been on a diet for over 20 years - varying successes - but never really been successful. This has been the only time that it has really worked. I am desperate for it to work not only for myself - but for other people and I want to share my journey, my failures and my successes - warts and all. I want people to say - hell - if SHE can do it and boy - look at her - anyone can do it.

JoJo has been great in sharing her story - her ups and downs - and she will serve as a great ambassador to both her friends and those on the net looking for answers. Anyway - I do hope that more of the gang feel confident enough to start to share their journey.

till Tues I guess...

My week

Well another week gone, and I have to admit, it wasn't a good one. I was lacking motivation this week and I have been really tired, just wanting to sleep in and not get up and do the Wii Fit, the cool mornings haven't helped. Good to snuggle into the blankets. I haven't exercised on the Wii Fit for over 2 weeks now and got the munchies really bad this week. Just eating those 'sweet things', which is my weakness. I had 6 pikelets with jam and cream on Sunday morning, my breakfast in bed watching dvd's. I know I had too many but they tasted soooo good. Haven't eaten my vegies this week either and bit slack on the water too. And those dreaded chocolate covered berries...

I cooked a roast chicken and vegie on the weekend, the only thing is I ate 4 pieces of pumpkin, again it tasted sooo good. Maybe it was just a week where I needed these, my body was obviously craving these. ( Well thats what I think, LOL) So I guess it is important to have a little of everything we like and not deny ourselves or feel guilty when we do splurge! A friend said today, we have to 'live'. It is just important to find that balance...

So I wasn't expecting any results in the measurements. The cms didn't alter this week, I lost 300g, which is nothing really. But the good thing is I didn't gain after my splurges!!

I am back on track today, I came home after dropping the kids at school and mowed the lawn. Tomorrow back into the Wii Fit, eating my vegies and drinking that water. I am extremely happy to have lost 37.5cms off my body so far and drop a dress size ( 20 to an 18, nearly a 16) since Christmas. I have given myself until December to be a size 14 - 16, if I suceed better than this, than that is an extra bonus. This is a life change, I don't ever want to be a size 20 again!!

Any advice for anyone who wanting to start this journey?

This weeks achievement

Well another week gone. I took my friend out to dinner on Sunday to Hogs Breath Cafe. I had steak with calamari rings, mashed potato, vegies and cheese sauce. Then for dessert we had a banana, strawberry and caramel slice with ice cream. The food was so yummy, it was a thoroughly enjoyable night, good food and good company. Nice to get out and have some adult time away from the kids!!

Monday I went to a Nutri Metics party and afterwards we had mud cake with cream....mmmm
And I've been a bit slack and only did the Wii Fit once this week. So I wasn't expecting any change this week, but to my amazement, I shed 1cm off my bust and 3cm off my arms (which have gone up every week, due to muscle increasing from digging that driveway, lol) and shed nearly a kilo. So I just want to prove to you, you can enjoy 'life' and still shed those kilos while using this amazing product. You just have to find a balance...so yes we all have cravings and eat things we know we shouldn't, but the next day you just get back on track with the healthy choices.

So yes it is okay to indulge every now and again, we only get one chance at life, so enjoy every day. This is a lifestyle change not a 'diet'. It may take most of this year to get to where I want to be with my weight, but hey I have another 50+ years to enjoy this body I am re-shaping.

What if I muck up?

So what? what if you eat a Mars Bar - or tuck into a plate of chips.. guess what? Its called living.

just don't beat yourself up and stop - that's what most people do.. and then they never get the results they were so desperate to achieve.

By now most of us have shared our journey and our body reshaping... This post is to let you know that we ALL take a swerve off the track.. and we just kept going.

the best thing is - that with this product we are using - it all evens out - roughly - and we STILL are reshaping, shedding weight... how amazing is that?

so comments please..

whats the naughtiest thing you ate or did... and what was the result?

My eating habits

I have now been taking this great product since Christmas Eve, so just over 2 months. I enjoyed my Xmas, we had pavlova, caramel tarts, lollies, etc. And my mum made me a Christmas cake, so of course I had to eat it!! Most people gain weight over Christmas, I actually shed 6cm and lost a kilo!!

So since Xmas, I have now shed 33.5cm off my body and 3kg. It is so nice when someone comments on how I've lost weight, because really I feel no different. Yes I have dropped a dress size and can nearly fit into clothes I haven't worn for 8 years. (Yes, it is also a bit sad I have had these favourites in my closet for 8 years!! LOL)

I was a chocoholic and loved drinking milk, but I gave these up because I really wanted this to work (for good). I want to be wearing a beautiful strappy number for my daughters graduation in December. Since taking this product, I don't even crave chocolate. Every time I went to the shop I would buy chocolate, even if it was twice a day, everyday. Now I just walk past this aisle with no temptation whatsoever.

I allow myself treats, every night since starting, I have had a mango with Light and creamy ice cream for dessert. I did this because I was going from eating probabaly 3 blocks of chocolate a week to none, so slowly weaning myself off these addictions was best for me. And this week I have had no ice cream. If the kids have cooked muffins, patty cakes, slices, I have one (before it would be two or three).
I have cereal, toast or a smoothie for breakfast. I try to eat fruit for morning tea, today I had a gingerbread cookie, a flavoured tuna sandwich for lunch, meat, chicken or fish with vege for dinner, ice cream for dessert. I constantly snack on grapes, yogurt, cheese slices, nuts. As I know this will keep my metabolism going during the day. Most days I find its lunchtime and I haven't eaten, because my appetite has been suppressed.

This is a lifestyle change, we need to still enjoy life!! Just find a balance, good food is sooo yummy, who can resist!! It all about control, you can have your favourites, just a smaller portion...and then balance it out the next day with healthier choices.

Week 6 achievement

Today I have shed 1/2 cm off my hips. I had a few drinks on the weekend, tolberone's (cream and Kahlua based) and thoroughly enjoyed chocolate covered blueberries. The most important thing is I didn't gain any weight. The most important thing is I am living 'life'. There is going to be times when I will be tempted by all those yummy foods, but I will learn to get back on track the next day. Which I have done by eating fruit and vegies. It has been really hot the last few days so exercise hasn't been regular, but I made sure I did something and not just sit around all weekend. And yesterday my son and I mowed the lawn.

Today I showed the girls the Wii Fit, well worth the money!! I was a bit hesitant at first when my daughter bought it, simply because I was embarassed in front of the kids, but now I love it, I get up at 6am, exercise for half an hour, then get the kids up for school. I do hula hoop, boxing and then 10 mins free step while watching TV, maybe some balance exercises. The Wii Fit keeps track of your weight, BMI, Wii Fit age, you can set yourself a weight loss goal, how often you exercised. So check it out, it is sooo much fun, and you really don't realise you're exercising!!

Low GI Chicken Fried Rice

Ingedients

2 boneless skinless chicken breasts, chopped
1 ½ cups chicken stock
1 pinch salt
¾ cup brown rice
1 teaspoon sesame oil
¾ cup sliced celery
1 cup mushrooms
2 carrots, diced
2 spring onions
¼ cup soy sauce
2 cups bean sprouts

Directions
Bring 1 ¼ cups of the chicken stock, rice and salt to boil.
Reduce heat to low, cover and cook for 25 minutes or until liquid is absorbed.
Fluff with fork and set aside.
In a wok heat sesame oil over medium high heat and cook chicken and mushrooms for about 8 minutes or until chicken is no longer pink.
Add spring onions, carrot, celery, and cooked rice.
Cook, stirring for 2 minutes, to combine.
Add remaining chicken stock and soy sauce and cook for 5 minutes.
Add bean sprouts and toss to combine. Enjoy!

Chicken san choy bau

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon peanut oil
500g chicken mince
4 spring onions, finely sliced
2 tablespoons fish sauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 cup bean sprouts
½ cup fresh coriander leaves, chopped
1 iceberg lettuce

Method:
Prepare the lettuce by cutting out the stem and pulling off leaves. The outer ones are too big and soft, keep for a salad; use the lettuce cups closer to the heart of the lettuce. Wash gently and use a lettuce spinner to dry. You will need 2-3 cups per person.
Heat peanut oil in a hot frying pan and brown the chicken mince. Add fish sauce, soy sauce and lemon juice, cook for one minute.
Remove from heat and stir through bean sprouts and coriander leaves.
Spoon chicken mixture into lettuce cups and serve immediately.
Alternatively, if you don’t mind spillage, serve the chicken mixture in a large bowl on the centre of the table and let everyone fill their own lettuce cups.
Notes:
·Finely chopped water chestnuts also add a nice crunch to this dish.
· Fish sauce is, well, smelly like fish, but adds the lovely flavour to san choy bau and other Thai dressings.

Sweet Potato Salad

Here is my recipe for a Sweet Potato salad which is sure to be a favourite at BBQs. Its a much lower GI value than your normal potato salad and because there isn't any dressing - low in fat. This can be served as a meal in itself as the lentils and beans make it a very filling and healthy dish.

Variations include the addition of several handful of baby spinach and /or a block of creamy feta cheese cut up into tiny cubes. ( This is particularly nice as it serves as the 'mayonnaise' or dressing.)

I large sweet potato - cut into about 1 cm cubes ( smallest looks best - but big chuncky ones work too)
boil this until cooked but still firm - don't over cook or when its mixed up it goes mushy.
1 can of brown lentils - drained
1 can mixed beans - drained

4 onions - cut into rings - fry on BBQ so it is caramelised and brown. ( and has that gorgeous smell and taste)

leave all ingreditent to cool and then mix roughly.
Squeeze 1 lemon into mix and add a little salt and pepper to taste.

Yummo!!

The Product

what is that 'stuff' you are taking?

Well - its a new and advanced protein powder that will help shed weight and keep it off. Its nothing like all the other weight loss powder blends you've tried - guarenteed.

It uses a specially formulated whey protein derivative that actually includes peptides. Peptides are amino acids that help your body maintain it's lean muscle while losing fat.

This is exactly what you want to do to get that toned, lean look. Sometimes muscle is lost during a weight loss program - that's not attractive and it's not healthy. You want to keep all of the muscle and lose the fat. That's what it does. It's not about how many kgs or pounds you lose - it's about how much fat you lose and how much lean muscle you keep.

This product utilizes an exclusive patented process in which specific parts of whey protein, peptides are separated out and then concentrated into a formula that is geared towards fat loss. The peptide formula is combined with minerals from the whey and together, they make this specific powder.

You mix the powder with a drink - juice, milk, coffee, meal replacement drinks or water, or food twice a day. If you drink it, you should use it 20 minutes before your morning and evening meals. If you prefer, you can sprinkle the powder directly onto your food. I think I will let the people who are using it to comment on its taste - suffice to say - we all have our own ways of taking it!

Probably the most outstanding thing about this product is that it truly targets fat and leaves the lean muscle intact. This is because the peptides, which are separated from the whey, are free to work in the way they work best, and they are also concentrated in a high level for optimal efficiency.

As you lose the fat, but keep the muscle, your metabolism will increase. This is an obvious benefit because as your metabolism increases, your body will burn fat and calories more efficiently and quickly.

This product is instrumental in telling your brain that your body is satisfied with less food. When you take it before your meal, or even with it, you will have a feeling of being full faster - leading you to eat less. So, besides attacking fat, it's also helping to curb your appetite.

Over a short amount of time, you'll notice that you're shedding fat and your clothes are getting loose - a sure sign that this product is working. With moderate exercise, you will be ensuring better health, and delivering another blow to fat while building muscle. The result is going to be a leaner healthier body that is more resistant to many types of disease including heart disease, diabetes and some cancers, and looks great.

So the bottom line is - this is not a replacement meal - its something you take just before a meal - to help you not pig out - plus it raises your metabolism and burns fat. wow - how good is that?

Another unexpected, but welcome effect that this product has is that it can give you added energy, help you sleep better and generally feel better. And these effects spill over into the rest of your life. Research has shown that people who get good nights sleep are generally healthier and leaner with increased energy.

I know many of us can certianly say YES! to all of these claims - we are living proof...

go - on - ask us more about this! ( but we can't say what the product is or the company name here on this blog... sorry...)

Unlimited Vegies

I have come across a list of vegies that can be eaten in unlimited quantities and as often as required during the day. They are not restricted to the main meal. I cook up a big pot ( enough for a few days) and nibble on these when I feel hungry.

Asparagus, Avocado (1/2 per day), artichoke, green beans, bean sprouts, beetroot ( not canned), broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage, capsicum, carrots, cauliflower, celery, chilli, choko, cucumber, eggplant, garlic, lettuce, leek, marrow, mushrooms, onion, snow peas, silverbeet, spinach, spring onion, squash, tomato, turnip, radish and zucchini.

Try adding some herbs, spice or curry to add to the flavour..

Jo's week

Well I thought this was going to be a week where I platued as I didin't eat many vegies and was a bit slack on drinking water. But I did my measurements this morning and was shocked that I had lost 8cm off my body!! I lost 4cm off my hips, 2cm off my waist, and 1cm off each leg. And I think it is important to know I am shedding the weight but still enjoying 'life'. If I feel like something, eg a cookie, or two, or three, LOL.I have it and just get back on track the next day. You have to enjoy life, just be sensible about it and not feel guilty if you do have something high in fat or sugar. Tommorrow is a new day.....

Weekly Measure Ups

Well, its that time again - and hopefully everyone is excited - not dreading this time of week - unlike other fad diet programs or shaming groups.

Pretty much everyone each week we have been meeting have had a substantial 'release' of fat and has just about been jumping out of their skins to share with everyone else.

Please post your comments below with :
your name
total inches or cms shedded
how you are feeling energy wise
any other thing about your journey you may have noticed.

It important to share these last two things in particular - as when you reach your goal - you will forget about the bad stuff - how you used to feel - and find it hard to remember feeling any other way but great.
Its also important to share here as not only people within our group will be interested in your progress - you can serve to inspire other people to take this journey with you.

Getting that BUZZ

Last meeting we talked about the importance of getting our subconscious mind working towards achieving our goal, too. Because the subconscious can’t actually tell the difference from fact and vividly imagined fantasy, I want to suggest you do something a little ‘different’! It’s called a ‘buzz’.

In the book, “Excuse Me, Your Life is Waiting”, the author Lynn Grabhorn talks about the power of POSITIVE SELF-TALK, done in a particular way – using a powerful, excited emotional state in which to do them.

Lynn talks about the fact that where we are today, and what we have in our life today, is the direct result of what we’ve said to ourselves (thought) and what we’ve said out loud in the past.
When we are thinking negative thoughts, we are vibrating negatively and bathed in negative energy. When that happens, we attract negatives into our life. The same is true in reverse, too.
When we’re thinking positive thoughts, we are vibrating positively and bathed in positive energy. And…we attract wonderful positive things into our life.
This is just as true for our weight and body size.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN SAYING TO YOURSELF ABOUT YOUR WEIGHT & SIZE ... AND FOR HOW LONG?

Lynn suggests we get ourselves into a positive state every day and she calls this positive state a “buzz”.

WHO’S EVER HAD A ‘DOWN’ MOMENT, OR A ‘BAD DAY’?

If you’re having a ‘down’ moment, it’s important to switch to a positive mindset quickly.

The first step is to “jump-start” yourself. And the quickest way to do that is to SMILE! Not a silly grin but a loving tender smile like your small child has just brought you their most cherished possession.

This will get your buzz started.

Once you’ve got that wonderful smile going (like an inner warm fuzzy), replace it with something stronger, like gratitude, enthusiasm, excitement. Choose the feeling that’s easiest for you to manufacture at will, and hold it for as long as you can.

Intensify that feeling as much as you can until you feel the physical shift of energy in your body.

Now, while you hold onto that positive emotion, talk out loud about what’s happening in your life, the fact that you have achieved a certain goal, what’s happening to you as a result and how wonderful you feel.

Doing this exercise every day for several minutes will bring it into your life more quickly. The more you do it, the longer you do it for, and more quickly you will speed up the manifestation of your dreams and goals into your life.

Comments anyone?

Recipes - Low G.I

The Glycemic Index was developed in the 1980s, as a new method of classifying carbohydrate foods. This proved once and for all that all sugars are not absorbed quickly into the blood, and all starches are not absorbed slowly.

GI is a ranking (from 1 to 100) which measures the effect of a food on your blood-glucose level over the two hours after the food is eaten.

Understanding the GI is really simple

  • Carbohydrate foods that break down quickly during digestion, releasing glucose quickly into the blood stream, have a high GI with a value of 70 or more.
  • Carbohydrate foods that break down slowly, releasing glucose into the blood stream gradually, have a low GI with a value of 55 or less.
  • Carbohydrate foods that break down at a moderate pace, releasing glucose into the blood stream neither slowly or quickly, have a medium GI with a value of 56 to 69 inclusive.
The simplest way to use the GI every day for every meal is to simply substitute lower GI foods for the higher GI foods that you normally eat.

How low-GI contributes to weight control
High GI foods are bad for weight control for two reasons. Firstly, the glucose spikes stimulate hunger because you are getting that dramatic drop in glucose, 90 minutes to two hours after eating. By eating low GI foods you feel fuller for longer and are, therefore, not as likely to go searching for snacks every two hours.

Secondly, insulin is a storage hormone that stockpiles nutrients for later use by the body. A high-GI diet causes a lot of insulin to be produced and when you have too much insulin in your body too much of the time, it makes it easier to store fat and harder to burn it.

I invite submissions and links in the comments for favourite recipies for low G.I foods.

Weekly Measure Ups - first public one.

So each week after our meeting, we talk about how much we have reshaped our bodies. On this blog, I will post up a weekly measure up and get everyone to add thier comments at the bottom.

I don't see anything on the scales as yet - and I guess many of us haven't - but I long forwent trusting that evil machine in anycase. There is something about it - the way it beeps so nonchalontly at you and then demands you wait for a certian time before you step onto it. THEN it flicks WAAAAAY past your weight and you feel like jumping off the roof, before it slowly clicks the numbers back to a number that has got to be wrong. nahh - I don't trust the little buggers.

We been all been told not to get on the scales ( but come on - we do anyway - just to see..I won't do that again in a hurry)

Its all to do with reshaping - thats good for me! who cares if the scales say one thing - man if I looked good - then the numbers be damned. Its all about sheding inches from all over the body.

so - We will not be putting the actual measurements here - just way too embarrassing and its private in anycase ( of course if you want to share it - go ahead) - but we will record what has been shed.

Introducing Annie

Hi – I’ m Annie - I am a Mum, a Writer and a Thaumaturg ( what mother isn't?) I am passionate about community and social inclusion using my skills as a communicator ( you are never an "ex" teacher) to act as a catalyst between people, ideas and quality information.

To give you a bit of back ground about me - I have taken a sabbatical from paid employment to explore creative pursuits including writing. I draw on my years as a teacher and time in the corporate field to bring life experience to my eclectic style of writing. I have written speculative science fiction, feminist literature, romance, adventure and magazine articles exploring themes in mothering, feminism, spirituality and sharing my journey as a woman and mother – If you’d like to see my work – go here for the links.

I am currently involved with a number of collaborative writing projects in both fiction and non fiction, loving the challenge of being a section editor for TypeA Mom, a weekly Columnist for Write Anything as well as conducting workshops with community and speaking at key events.

In saying all of this – you can gather I like to be busy and kept challenged.. and I have allowed my fitness and health to slide over the years of being a mum and just simply being busy. I have always had challenges with my weight and have been on some sort of diet or fad for 25 years. I stacked weight on after my husband was diagnosed with a brain tumour and underwent radiotherapy and just got worse and worse ever since.

The most ‘successful’ diet I went on was the black coffee and 2 apple diet – as much black coffee and water you can consume in a day and two apples. I lost nearly 15kgs on that – for my wedding.. and that I think was the start of the decline of my metabolism and insulin allergy.

I am nearing the big 40 birthday – in 6 months – and have made the decision I am not going to be fat and 40.

So – am willing now to do anything – to try anything to shed weight and get back on track. I have made my own accountability blog here where I record everything I eat and what I do. I'd love you to drop by sometime - give me some encouragement!

Accountability

Hi

This is a public space for a group of committed women ( so far) who are serious about shedding unwanted weight and reshaping our bodies - FOR LIFE.

We have been meeting once a week for 4 weeks and today spoke a bit about being accountable to each other and about the power of keeping a diary or a journal of our journey. We decided that there were going be people who are going to want to know 'how you did it." and sometimes its hard to remember if you felt challenged - or what those challenges were when you are past them.

I have used a group site as an accountability measure for me for a number of other things - and have found you are more likely to keep going if you have others who are relying on you to do so.... especially if its so public - like the internet.....

This will be a central spot to put the recipes, hints and tips, and every week - for each of us write a little round up of our week - only a few sentences is necessary - no measurements are necessary - but an over all - eg..."I shed 1 inch this week - etc.. keeping everyone inspired and enthusiastic.

For the brave - you can post a before photo up if you want.

You can also note down what you eat - something that one member said struck a cord with me - people are going to want to know that this is NOT a fad diet - that you can live a normal life, eat normally etc - so by you noting this down - it will show others that they too can do this.

The only thing I will say is that we DO NOT mention the company name of the proudcts we are using nor the products names ANYWHERE. It is against company policy for anyone to do this..so we don't want to get into trouble.

this is an exciting opportunity for you to make a difference to not only your own but others lives by leading by example.

For anyone interested in finding out more about the products we are using, I will set up a seperate email address for individual enquiries and will NOT discuss anything publically in comments or on this blogspot.
